Some soccer tips and statistics about Barcelona and Real Madrid ( El Clásico)

   Just in case you don't know, this is not the first time that these two teams meet each other....
 El Clásico ( The classic) which is also known as "el derbi Español" is how people in Spain call the match between Real Madrid and  FC Barcelona. It takes place twice a year in the Spanish League competition, and more often if the teams meet each other in other competitions, as in this case ( champions League semifinals) . Other than the UEFA Champions League Final, it is the most followed club football match in the world, watched by hundreds of millions of people.
   The rivalry comes about as these two teams are the largest cities in Spain, and the clubs are de richest ones of the country.
    Real Madrid has won 73 trophies and Barcelona 70. Another important feature is the representation of opposing political positions that identify each club, with Real Madrid viewed as representing Spanish nationalism, and Barcelona viewed as representing Catalan nationalism.
   There have been a lot of players who have switched from FC Barcelona to Madrid and viceversa, winning the hatred of thousand of fans, because doing that for them is synonymous of betrayal.

Champions league semi-finals. Spanish "Derbi" Barcelona v/s Real Madrid

 

   First, and to star the blog, we cannot stop mention the most important and interesting upcoming  match for this week:  the semi-finals of the Champions League Real Madrid V/S Barcelona.

  Starting by the fact that the referee of the match has been confirmed. Fortunately for Pep Guardiola and his wishes the judge won't be Portuguese, but German. The name of the responsible for refereeing the first leg of the semifinals of the Champions League  is Wolfgang Starkand who has refereed Barcelona five times with a record of one win, three draws, and one defeat.On the other hand, Madrid was conducted by this referee six times with a record of three wins, a draw and two defeats.

  The match will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Spain on Wednesday, April 27th, 2011. The kick off is scheduled for 15:45 (Chile time).
  So all footballers be patients, because we are going to be able to watch the face-to-face between Messi and CR9 in two more days.
